The only aspect where Sacred is better than Sacred 2 is in the lore and the world building. Mechanics like Skill Mastery, Combat Arts modifications, Buffs, Damage Mitigation, Spell Intensity/Resistance together with the reorganization of skills and combat arts in types and aspects, the introducitons of many different bonus and a rebalancing of the Attributes makes the character's build way better in Sacred 2. The first Sacred is still one of my favourites games, but in my opinion Sacred 2 improved everything on the technical side. Sacred 2 had a rough start (heavy system requirements, many bugs and big patches) that mined its reputation and never fully recovered from that. Originally posted by melmoth:I see a lot of people mentioning the original Sacred, but not Sacred 2. But If you can stand them, and graphics are not that important to you, I think you could still draw a lot of fun from that earlier game. However, seeing you coming from Sacred2 with quite some more flexibility in skill development, I am not sure if you would like to go back to the less fleshed out game systems. Or maybe it's just as simple as having to imagine more of the world yourself with less pixels on your screen, i am not sure why I feel this way, but i do. Instead I have to bare this - in my opinion - out-of-place temple guardian and an inquisitor which actually is a weird sith lord :D Might be quite a bit of personal nostalgia mixed in, too, the (positively) less colorful world or the fact I still don't see the Dragon Mage or the H11 as a full replacement for my beloved combat mage and the dark elf or the vampire did not even make it into the game. Regarding lore however and general feeling of the game, I like Sacred 1 more and I think in general the whole mood is darker, just more grim in total. I often prefer Sacred 2 not just for the technical advantages, but mainly for the size of the world and content amount - I don't have to farm the same corners over and over. I still like and play both, but for different reasons.
